The part that broke didn't come with a replacement plan. Nobody warned me the cog would wear out, that the bracket would finally give, or that the company that made the original had closed down years before I'd ever need another one.

Not everything broken is sentimental. Sometimes it's just a washer, a clip, a fitting — something ordinary that needs replacing so an ordinary day can keep going.

But sometimes it's the cog from a grandfather's clock, or a fixture that's held a family kitchen together since before I was born. Losing the object can feel like losing a little of what it was attached to. So we reprint the part, and the memory stays put.
