Two directions, one process: a scale replica of your own home as a keepsake or decor piece, and 1/64 scenery and structures built for model railroad, wargaming, and diorama enthusiasts.
The house didn't come with paperwork guaranteeing any of this would last. No deed promises the light will keep hitting the kitchen table the same way at five o'clock, that the fourth stair will always creak, or that the hallway will stay exactly as narrow as it felt when I was still growing into it.
Some of what we build was never a home at all — a streetlamp, a row of pine trees, a building that only ever existed at 1/64 scale, standing in for a place someone is still imagining.
And when the real house is gone — sold, renovated, torn down — what's left fits in the palm of a hand: the shape of it, exact to the inch, standing somewhere I can still see it. Not the house. Just everything it meant.
